Troop Log:

3 days of Star Wars ! This was Scums 1st big Star Wars focused event and it was super amazing! It is always an extreme pleasure to hang out with the Droid Builders and our Sister clubs Mandalorian Mercs, Saber Guild, 501st Legion and Rebel Legion members. Please check out the Build It page for information on joining one or more of these amazing clubs!

It is a really pleasant experience to hang around genuine Star Wars fans, we all have something in common so we are automatically best-ies. It is different than the regular cons in that the is that unified genuine love and interest the droids. It is always our hope to inspire others to look into building their own and always a pleasure to discuss it with those that have or have started. A common issue is actually finding time to finish one. If anyone is like Ardy Jo, she desires that creativity and excitement aspect of building things, which is kind of a sweet spot that is hard to explain and even harder to fabricate, it just is there when its there and isn’t when it isn’t.

Day 1

We had 2 R2-D2s , RD-QD and Monster Inferno MSE. The booth was a nice roomy area and we had some awesome photo back drops for guests. We also had a nice display of a work in progress R2 for guests. Friday wasn’t so busy crowd wise. Ardy Jo chatted with Mr. Craig Miller who was promoting his new book “Star Wars Memories: My Time In The (Death Star) Trenches” (which can be found on Amazon).

The after party was the being George Lucas party with plaid projectors and the holiday special playing while the DJ blasted some beats. The Monster Inferno MSE had fun dancing with the balloons!

Day 2

Chopper from the Bakersfield Droid Builders joined us! The builders held a build panel in the afternoon with a very small group in attendance. Those that did attend enjoyed talking to the builders after and taking that exclusive peak inside R2. The Scarif Tiki After Party was poppin and Monster MSE had a blast dancing with the palm trees :)

Whilst Ardyjo was romping through the Dealers Hall again she picked up Mr. Craig Millers book again he very nicely signed it for her. Later Frazer Diamond popped out from behind his booth and asked for a picture of the Monster Inferno MSE which striked up a conversation that he was there as he played one of the Jawas in A New Hope when he was 7 years old. He indicated he was the one with the droid caller on the sand crawler scene. Ardy Jo had luckily enough brought her replica with her and was able to get him to sign it! Too bad it wasn’t a legitimate replica but all the same an awesome piece to add to the collection :)

Day 3

Day 3 we were down to 3 Astromechs & the MSE. We were able to make the group photo with the Rebel Legion/501, Mandalorian and Saber Guild. While we were out there we got to mingle Angie Mayhew, Jim Cummings and Christopher Sean.

Arcade Expo 5.0

Scum was overjoyed to be able to return to the magnificent Museum of Pinball !! Such an amazing place for video game & pinball lovers. The concept of all-day free play of over 1000+ games is still something we are getting used to. At $55 dollars a day it is well worth it if you put your time in. The museum also has on-site food selections such as fresh cheeseburgers, fries, mini pizza, tots etc. and inside a beer garden for your beer & mixed drinks with . There was a swap meet on the side of the building, which we missed, and various vendors selling pins, patches etc. outside. The theater had a schedule of presentations and documentaries showing throughout the day. Also occurring throughout the weekend was KongOff7, which included scheduled high-score battles and head to head single elimination battles!

Summary

We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Time Machine from Back to the Future thanks to 1.21GigagWattGuys over on Facebook and Johnny 5 from Short Circuit thanks to HeyJohnny5 on Facebook! You can contact the 1.21 Giga Watt Guys for their next event or to maybe schedule them for yours! Love hanging out with these iconic figures and their owners!

We also met Billy Mitchell and got some pix with him and the droids. Billy is a well high score holder and competitor for games like Donkey Kong Jr., Mrs. Pacman, BurgerTime and Centipede and was participating in the KongOff.

The Arcade Expo had a much higher attendance than Pinball Madness last fall. The parking lot and entire street block was full! You will have to wait in line a bit for certain games or machines.

Huge shoutout to all the volunteer technicians that participate in the events.

Tips

If you attend one of the events at the Museum of Pinball dress accordingly. I know Southern California weather can be a bit unpredictable in the Spring, so layers is suggested. The Pinball and Arcade areas can get a bit stuffy no matter the weather outside and outside can get chilly. You can access your car and re-enter the event as long as you have your wristband so you can store water & clothes if need be.

If you are going to buy food or drink at the event, be sure to get in the right line. You have to purchase tickets to redeem food and drink. The bar takes cash/card.
